This was The Crookes’ last show of their current UK tour, and it was a homecoming show at the Leadmill in Sheffield.
The support for the show was Misty Miller and her band, who played a selection of her songs from her previous EPs , and her upcoming album ‘The Whole Family Is Worried’, which is released on the 8th April. She also played a cover of the One Direction song Steal My Girl, which was a bit of a surprise. after which she stated ‘If you liked that, then you like One Direction.’
The Crookes are one of the hardest-working bands around, playing non-stop since the announcement of their latest album, Lucky Ones, and it definitely shows. The band are one of the tightest around, with each song sounding brilliant live, with even the newer tracks sounding like they have been playing them for years.
Highlights from the set included new hits The World Is Waiting and I Wanna Waste My Time On You, Ex-Lovers, during which Misty Miller returned to the stage to duet with George, and old favourite Backstreet Lovers, during which balloons were dropped on to the crowd, which resulted in the crowd becoming even more lively than before.
Balloons are released into the crowd.
Misty Miller joins The Crookes on stage for their song, Ex-Lovers.
The crowd was one of the most active that I had ever seen, with the security having to drag an increasing number of crowd surfers back to safety as the gig went on. Every single song was sung back by the crowd like it was a big fan favourite, and in that home crowd, the majority of them probably were.
