Lonely The Brave live at Plug, Sheffield Review

Lonely The Brave played live at Plug in Sheffield on 30th September 2016. Support on the evening came from Eden Haze and Seconds apart.

Eden Haze opened the show with a tight set of rock tracks, with their slower track ‘She believes in Hearbeats’ bringing out the best in the band in my opinion.

Seconds Apart played a very energetic set,ย consistently trying to get the crowd moving, and the frontman joining the crowd himself at one point. The band also included a cover of Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ which was surprisingly enjoyable.

Before the gig I did not know much about Lonely The Brave, having only checked out a few songs on Spotify beforehand to see what they would be like. With the band playing tracks from their new album Things Will Matterย alongside picks as from their debut The Day’s War, the Plug was almost full to capacity.

Despite singer David Jakes having tea on stage, presumably to help a sore throat, no sign of vocal problems showed, with his voice particularly shining through on their cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Comfortably Numb.’

Fitting as much as they could into their set, the band quickly transitioned from track to track with ease, pleasing the large percentage of the crowd that were fans of Lonely The Brave, with a big number of them wearing the band’s merch.

Lonely The Brave left Sheffield wanting more, with fans shouting out song requests even after they had finished their encore. It was very clear to see why, and hopefully they will be back soon.
